From "David's Harp Well Tuned", 1753. Printed for retailers in Fleet Street, Nottingham, Mansfield and Derby. About Robert Barber nothing is known except from his three editions of his psalmody (1727 - 1753). This is an example of his more ambitious (unaccompanied) anthem style.
Lyrics: Psalm 81, v.1-4
Sing we merrily unto God our strength: make a cheerful noise unto the God of Jacob.
Take the psalm, bring hither the tabret and merry, merry harp with the lute.
Blow up the trumpet in the new moon: even in the time appointed, and upon our solemn feast day .
For this was made a statute for Israel, and a law of the God of Jacob.
Glory be to God on high and on earth peace, goodwill to all men.
Hallelujah.
