Goldwin (occasionally referred to as Golding) was a pupil of William Child and organist and master of the choristers at St George's Chapel, Windsor. This edition has been rebarred, but derives ultimately from Boyce's Cathedral Music via "Six easy anthems for 4, 5 and 6 voices, compos'd by the most eminent masters and now fitted for the use of country choirs by John Field, master of the singing boys of the Cathedral church in Gloster. Longman, Lukey and Co. London. (c. 1770)"; which has slightly simplified Boyce, and redistributed the verse parts.
Lyrics: Psalm 16, v.9-12

I have set God always before me: for he is on my right hand, therefore I shall not fall.
Wherefore my heart was glad, and my glory rejoiced: my flesh also shall rest in hope.
For why? thou shalt not leave my soul in hell: neither shalt thou suffer thy Holy One to see corruption.
Thou shalt shew me the path of life; in thy presence is the fulness of joy: and at thy right hand there is pleasure for evermore.
