Larghetto e staccato - Allegro - Andantino e cantabile - Allegro

Nove Overture a quattro, due violini, viola e basso da Francesco Barsanti di Lucca. Opera Quarta. (?)Edinburgh, c. 1745. Barsanti spent much of his professional life in London, and in Edinburgh, where he was particularly esteemed. Several of his overtures quote popular tunes of the day. The first Allegro of this Overture has as its subject a Scottish jig called "Country Bumpkin, or, Babbity Bowster".
