One of those catches that is more lubricious in performance than the anodyne lyrics might suggest (although the mention of a character named Roger will have warned the seasoned catch-singer of the delights to come). This edition comprises a modern realisation, and a statement of the piece in its original specialised format.

Lyrics: Anon, probably the composer

Says Sue to Pru on a summer's day
"Oh, how I like the smell of the new-mown hay".
"To dance", says Nell, "I like full as well
All night, til return of the day".
"Oh then", says Nan, "if dancing is your plan
I'll straight to young Roger of the hill,
To bring his pipe and play".

Garret Wesley, 1st Earl of Mornington
