An air (concert aria) taken from Linley's incidental music to The Tempest. The text was commomnly inserted into Shakepeare's play in productions from the mid-1770s, and is perhaps by David Garrick or by Richard Brinsley Sheridan.
The keyboard part is a condensation of the string parts, made for rehearsal purposes, or for performance in reduced circumstances (the oboe obbligato is still required).
Lyrics: Anon

O bid your faithful Ariel fly
To the farthest Indies' sky,
And then at thy afresh command,
I'll traverse o'er the silver sand.
I'll climb the mountains, plunge the deep;
I, like mortals, never sleep;
What e'er it be, not with ill-will,
But merrily, merrily, merrily.
