Little is known of James Radcliffe beyond his description of himself on the title-page of his set of glees (pub. c.1790) as being "of Worcester Cathedral". He was a Lay Clerk there from 1780, but was suspended for absenteeism in 1791, and permanently dismissed in 1793.

Lyrics: William Browne

Now that the spring hath filled our veins
With kind and active fire,
And made green liv'ries for the plains
And ev'ry grove a choir,
Sing we the song with mirth and merry glee,
And Bacchus crown the bowl.
So here's to thee, and thee to me,
And ev'ry thirsty soul.

James Radcliffe
