Un jour dormait Colin en mi des prés
En pleine terre, et Janeton s'amie
Qui là le voit, se vint coucher auprès
Où cuida être comme lui endormie;
Mais le soleil droit aux yeux lui ennuie.
Lors Colin grippe et dit: "N'ayez souci
De traversin me fourniras ainsi,
Pour éviter de terre la froidure,
Et moi dessus de pavillon aussi
Je servirai m'ayant pour couverture".
So one day Colin's in the fields
Sleeping out in the open, and his girlfriend Janeton
Sees him and comes to lie down next to him
Where she reckons to go to sleep like him.
But the sun, directly in her eyes, annoys her.
Colin clasps her and says: "Don't worry,
You'll do as a bolster for me
To avoid the chill on the ground,
And I'll be a gazebo on top of you,
To provide your protection".
