Motet for Christmas Day from Sacrarum Cantionum (book 1), Milan, 1608.
Lyrics: Latin Antiphon
Quem vidistis, pastores? Dicite, annunciate nobis, in terris quis apparuit?
Hodie illuxit nobis dies redemptiones nostrae,
Whom did you see, shepherds? Speak and tell us: who has appeared on earth?
Today, the day of our redemption hath shone upon us;
Today, true peace hath descended upon us from heaven.
Tell us what you have seen, and announce Christ's nativity.
Today, for us from above, the skies are made to flow as honey.
Tell us what you have seen, and announce Christ's nativity.
We saw the new-born and choirs of angels praising the Lord.
