A motet for Epiphany from Novi Thesauri Musici (book 1), Venice, 1568, offered at original pitch.
Lyrics: Matthew ch.2, v.2,11
Reges terrae congregati sunt, convenerunt in unum dicentes:
Eamus in Judaeam et inquiramus ubi est qui natus est rex magnus,
cujus stellam vidimus in oriente.
Alleluja.
Et intrantes domum invenerunt puerum cum Maria matre ejus,
et procidentes adoraverunt eum offerentes ei aurum, thus et myrrham.
Alleluja.
The kings of the earth are gathered, and gone by together saying:
We have travelled to Judaea and are asking where is he that is born a great king, for we have seen his star in the east.
Alleluia.
And when they were come into the house, they saw the young child with Mary his mother, and fell down, and worshipped him: and they presented unto him gifts; gold, and frankincense and myrrh.
Alleluia.
