Motet for St Cecilia's Day from Quartus Tomus Musici Operis, Prague, 1590. This edition is offered at original pitch for S.A.A.T.T.B. or transposed up a minor third for the same forces.
Lyrics: Anon
Dum aurora finem daret,
beata Cæcilia dixit:
Eia, milites Christi,
abjicite opera tenebrarum
et induimini arma lucis.
Cæcilia, valedicens fratribus
et exhortans eos, ait:
Eia, milites Christi,
abjicite opera tenebrarum
et induimini arma lucis.
As dawn came to an end,
Cecilia cried out, saying:
"Huzza, soldiers of Christ,
cast away the works of darkness
and don the armour of light".
Bidding the brothers farewell,
and encouraging them, Cecilia said:
"Huzza, soldiers of Christ,
cast away the works of darkness
and don the armour of light".
