Six Canzonets or Glees in three parts. Pub. c.1770.
Lyrics: Richard Savage
When earth to earth my lifeless corpse is laid,
And o'er it hangs the yew or cypress shade:
When pale I flit along the dreary coast,
An hapless lover's pining plaintive ghost;
May you, my fair, when you these strains shall see,
Just spare one sigh, one tear to love and me,
Me, who in absence or in death, adore
Those heavenly charms, I must behold no more.
When earth to earth my lifeless corpse is laid,
And o'er it hangs the yew or cypress shade:
When pale I flit along the dreary coast,
An hapless lover's pining plaintive ghost;
May you, my fair, when you these strains shall see,
Just spare one sigh, one tear to love and me,
Me, who in absence or in death, adore
Those heavenly charms, I must behold no more.
