Pub. c.1805. Bennett was born in Exeter and trained as a portrait painter (miniaturist) under Sir Thomas Lawrence. He also pursued the career of singer, moving to Bath in 1806 to study with Venanzio Rauzzini (whom he painted in that year).
Lyrics: Anon
Sweet warbling bird, with dulcet note,
To Delia's breast repair;
There be thy captive woes forgot,
For loves are nested there.
And while thy strains the tale impart,
Let this their burden be:
The pang, which rends my master's heart,
Is love, sweet maid, for thee.
Sweet warbling bird, with dulcet note,
To Delia's breast repair;
There be thy captive woes forgot,
For love and peace dwell there.
Sweet warbling bird, with dulcet note,
To Delia's breast repair;
There be thy captive woes forgot,
For loves are nested there.
And while thy strains the tale impart,
Let this their burden be:
The pang, which rends my master's heart,
Is love, sweet maid, for thee.
Sweet warbling bird, with dulcet note,
To Delia's breast repair;
There be thy captive woes forgot,
For love and peace dwell there.
